Reasons to use LED Lights
Reasons to use LED Lights:
The use of LED light sources is considered to be the most promising direction in the field of artificial lighting. According to statistics for 2018, LED bulbs occupy about 35% of the lighting market. This demand is fully justified because modern LEDs effectively solve a number of problems. They improve the energy efficiency of lighting, improve light transmission, improve the safety and durability of lighting devices.
The glow of diodes was first noticed by Oleg Losev in 1922. While conducting research in the radio technical laboratory, he found a faint glow of crystalline diodes, which were then used in radios. However, the first modern diode was made in 1962, but it radiated a red glow. Between 1971 and 1993, yellow, green, blue and bright blue LEDs appeared. They can only be used in decorative light.
In 1995, the first LED emitting white light was created. However, the light level of the new lamps was very low and they were quite expensive. Only 10 years later it was possible to develop a powerful LED (100 lumens per watt) and start their serial production. LED lamps appeared on the Russian market relatively recently - in 2008-2010.
Three Pros LED light source:
The three pillars on which LED bulbs are popular are durability, energy efficiency, and eco-friendly. Let's look at these parameters compared to other sources of lighting:
Long run time:
The tungsten spiral lamp has a lifespan of 1,000 hours. In fact, the lamp burns out much earlier, because tungsten is very sensitive to voltage swings. If the lamp also works for a long time, then after 700 hours its light output is significantly reduced.
The lifespan of a fluorescent lamp is 7,000 to 9,000 hours, but the brightness of the light flow decreases by a third after 3,000 hours of operation.
Now look at the characteristics of the LED light source: the lifespan is 10,000-40,000 hours (10-12 years), the brightness of the flow decreases slightly throughout the life of the once it is turned on, it becomes full of brightness.
Energy efficiency and high light efficiency:
From a tour to history, you remember that until 2005 the LED lamp was inferior to all other sources of lighting on such a parameter as light output. For example, the light flow of an incandescent bulb is 7 to 20 lumens per watt. However, the energy efficiency of the source is extremely low, as 80% of electricity is used only for heating tungsten filament, and 20% - for lighting.
Fluorescent lamps produce a light flow of 50-60 lumens per watt and at the same time consume 5-6 times less electricity than incandescent bulbs. Luminescent lamps were at the forefront of energy conservation until the advent of modern LEDs.
LED bulbs produce 50-100 lumens per watt. To date, this is the best indicator of sources of artificial lighting. Energy-saving of led bulb is 2-3 times higher than that of a fluorescent lamp, and 10 to 15 times higher than that of an incandescent lamp.
In addition, LED light sources to have low heat output, so most of the energy goes directly to lighting. You have noticed that LED bulbs can be touched even after 10-12 hours of continuous operation.
Eco-friendly LED light sources:
LED bulbs have a high level of eco-friendliness, as they do not use harmful chemical components. During work, they do not emit ultraviolet or infrared rays, which makes LED lighting the safest for living spaces.
If the whole world replaces all incandescent bulbs and fluorescent light sources with LED, it will drastically reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere, reduce light pollution and, accordingly, improve the quality of life of people and the environment.
Another important advantage of an LED light source is its high structural strength. Did you know that incandescent bulbs should not be shaken, and lamps in fluorescent springs are made of fragile glass? When falling, such lamps are broken in 90% of cases out of a hundred. LED light sources are made of shock-resistant plastic, so they remain intact when falling.
You can still count a dozen pluses of LED bulbs compared to other light sources, but the above are the main advantages. Having assessed only these advantages of LEDs, you can already make the best choice.
